Getting started

Congratulations on taking the first step into a new era of oral care with issa™ dual LED + sonic teeth whitening device. Before you begin to enjoy all the benefits of sophisticated teeth whitening technology in the comfort of your home, please take a few moments to carefully read the instructions in this manual.

Please READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE and utilize this product only for its intended use as described in this manual.

WARNING: NO MODIFICATION OF THIS EQUIPMENT IS ALLOWED.

Overview

Precision-engineered for a whiter, brighter smile. This device pairs cutting-edge blue LED light with red LED & gentle sonic pulses, for at-home whitening that’s as effortless as it is effective - because you shouldn’t have to compromise.

4. SONIC PULSE TECHNOLOGY

Micro-pulses spread whitening gel evenly across the entire surface of every tooth during the first two minutes of treatment - for consistent, full-arch results.

5. INDICATOR LIGHT

Flashes to indicate when device is in Bluetooth pairing mode, Smart Control mode, and when device needs to be charged.

6. UNIVERSAL POWER BUTTON

Powers device on and off, cycles between different modes, and puts device in Bluetooth pairing mode to connect to the FOREO app.

Unlock your device

Before using your device for the first time, you must unlock it. You can do this automatically by registering your device via the FOREO app for the first time. Simply follow the steps below:

Download the FOREO For You app on your mobile phone by scanning the QR code.
Log in to your existing account, or sign up for a new one.
Add device (on the top of your screen).
Choose the device series.
Follow the instructions on the app and fill in the purchase information.

And your device is ready to use!

1. PREP

Brush your teeth, and use the shade guide to match your teeth to the nearest shade color. Then unscrew the top of the issa™ advanced teeth whitening gel, and evenly apply a thin layer of gel to the base on each side of the mouth tray - a quarter on the top tray, and a quarter on the bottom tray (half a syringe in total).

2. TREAT

Place the tray in your mouth, and press the universal power button to turn on your device. Blue+red LED for teeth whitening+gum care is the default mode, but you can press the button again to cycle between different modes, including blue LED for teeth whitening only, or red LED for gum care only, according to your preference.

3. RINSE

Your device will automatically turn off after 15 mins. Once the session is finished, rinse your mouth thoroughly with water. For maximum results, complete a full treatment by repeating daily for 6 consecutive days - and enjoy visibly whiter, brighter teeth.

Recommended use for full treatment: 15 minutes once per day, for 6 days.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Using the shade guide, match your teeth to the nearest shade color before first use, and after each session.
When applying the whitening gel to the device, face the shield upwards, so no gel is spilled.
Avoid eating or drinking for 30 minutes after treatment for best results.
You can also use the device alone without the gel, to improve overall gum health with red LED.
After using for 6 consecutive days, check your teeth against the shade guide to see the improvement. The average improvement is 6 shades over 6 days. For maintenance or if you require further whitening, use once per week, as needed.

CLEANING YOUR DEVICE

Always clean your issa™ dual LED + sonic teeth whitening device thoroughly after each use. Wash the mouth tray with warm water and soap, then rinse with warm water. Pat dry with a lint-free cloth or towel. Ensure the device is fully dry before covering the mouth tray with the hygienic tray case.

NOTE: We do not recommend placing issa™ dual LED + sonic teeth whitening device in a UV sanitation case. Never use cleaning products containing alcohol, petrol or acetone. For optimal hygiene, we recommend spraying the silicone body of the device with FOREO Silicone Cleaning Spray at the start and end of your 6-day treatment, and rinsing with warm water.

Safety and troubleshooting

WARNINGS
FOR OPTIMUM SAFETY

This device is intended to provide a light source for bleaching teeth when used with a teeth whitening gel. Any harmful consequences resulting from misuse, application to other body areas, or any other improper applications are not the responsibility of FOREO.
Consult your physician or dental professional prior to using this device if you have any medical concerns.
Do not use this device if your skin or gums are sensitive to light or you are currently using medication that may cause skin sensitivity to light. Doing so may result in a photosensitive reaction.
If you are unsure whether your medication causes sensitivity to light, confirm with your physician prior to using this device.
Do not use if your skin or gums are swollen from a previous treatment.
Do not use the device to treat skin or gums that are painful to touch, raised (higher than surrounding skin), crusting, or bleeding. This may be a sign of a more serious condition and should be checked by your doctor.
If you experience any discomfort when using this device, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician.
If you are undergoing treatment for any oral condition, consult your dental professional prior to use.
For reasons of hygiene, we do not recommend sharing this device with anyone else.
This device is not intended for children under the age of 18.
Children or persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities should not use, play with, maintain or clean the device.
Consult your physician prior to using this device if you are pregnant, or suspect you may be pregnant.
Consult your physician prior to using this device if you have suspicious cancerous lesions.
Do not shine the device LED lights directly into the eyes, as doing so may cause temporary vision discomfort.
This device contains blue light which can be harmful to eyes - ensure you place the device in the mouth before switching on.
We recommend using this device with FOREO issa™ advanced teeth whitening gel.
Discontinue use if this device or charger is not working properly or appears damaged in any way.
Use the USB charging cable supplied with your device only.
Before charging, make sure that the plug and socket are completely dry. Failure to do so may result in electric shock, short circuit, or fire.
This device should only be used with a SELV power adapter. It is recommended that IEC60950 standard power suppliers are used to charge the device.
Do not use the device while charging, or when it is plugged in.
Do not use the device if it is overheating or you suspect that it is malfunctioning.
Avoid leaving this device in direct sunlight and never expose it to extreme heat or boiling water.
Do not use the device while driving or operating heavy machinery.
Do not insert any object into any opening of the device.
The battery must be removed from the appliance before it is disposed of. The appliance must be disconnected from the supply mains when removing the battery, and the battery is to be disposed of safely.
This product contains no serviceable parts.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Precautions to be taken in the event of changes in the performance of your issa™ dual LED + sonic teeth whitening device:

The device is not activated when pressing the power button:

If this is your first time using the device, it’s locked. Unlock it automatically by registering your device via the FOREO For You app, and activating the warranty, (detailed instructions provided under ‘Unlock Your Device’ in the ‘How to Use’ section of this manual).
Battery is empty. Recharge your device using the USB charging cable for up to 1.5 hours until fully charged.
Microprocessor is temporarily malfunctioning. Press and hold the power button to restart the device.

The device’s indicator light does not blink when the USB charging cable is connected:

Battery is fully charged, and the device is ready to use.
Battery is drained and will require several minutes to acknowledge the USB charging cable.
USB charging cable is not properly connected. Check electrical outlet / USB socket and charging port.

The device won’t sync to the FOREO For You app:

Ensure that the device is fully charged, and that your Bluetooth is turned on.
Switch your Bluetooth off and then on again to try reconnecting.
Close the FOREO app and then reopen it to restart the process.
The app may need to be updated. Delete and reinstall the app, then make sure to restart your phone.
Delete your phone’s cookies and cache memory.

2-year limited warranty

FOREO warrants this device for a period of TWO (2) YEARS after the original date of purchase against defects due to faulty workmanship or materials arising from Normal Use of the device. The warranty covers working parts that affect the function of the device. It does NOT cover cosmetic deterioration caused by fair wear and tear, or damage caused by accident, misuse or neglect. Any attempt to open or take apart the device (or its accessories) will void the warranty.

If you discover a defect and notify FOREO during the warranty period, FOREO will, at its discretion, replace the device free of charge. Claims under warranty must be supported by reasonable evidence that the date of the claim is within the warranty period. To validate your warranty, please keep your original purchase receipt together with these warranty conditions for the duration of the warranty period.

To claim your warranty, you must log in to your account at www.foreo.com and then select the option to make a warranty claim. Shipping costs are nonrefundable. This undertaking is in addition to your statutory rights as a consumer and does not affect those rights in any way.

Disposal & battery removal

Disposal information

Disposal of old electronic equipment (applicable in the EU and other European countries with separate waste collection systems).

This device should not be treated as household waste, but rather be brought to the appropriate collection point for recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. By ensuring this device is disposed of correctly, you will help prevent the potential negative consequences for the environment and human health which could be caused by inappropriate waste handling of the device. The recycling of materials will also help conserve natural resources.

For more information about the recycling of your device, please contact your local household waste disposal service or your place of purchase.

Battery removal

NOTE: This process is not reversible. Opening the device will void its warranty. This action must only be undertaken when the device is ready to be disposed of.

Because this device contains a lithium-ion battery, the battery must be removed before disposal and should not be thrown away with household waste. In order to do this, remove the silicone outer layer, open the inner plastic shell, remove the battery, and dispose of it in accordance with your local environmental regulations. Wear gloves during this process for your safety. Detailed visual instructions are provided below:
