Hi, Amanda!
If your device is registered and visible under your user account, there is no need to worry, as everything is perfectly fine :) you can register using either the scratch card number or the serial number from the bottom of the device, both are fine :)
Regarding your second question, I would kindly suggest to try replacing the batteries, uninstalling the app, turning off your bluetooth and trying again - make sure to install the latest update of the app and to turn the bluetooth on before logging into the app :)
