5 Travel Skincare Tips: How to Glow On-the-Go

Traveling is exciting, but it can also be overwhelming and stressful. Long rides, possible stress and anxiety, different climates, unbalanced diet, lack of hydration, disrupted sleep because of jet lag or unfamiliar bed, and lack of routine can take a toll on your skin – making it drydull, and prone to breakouts.

With the right, planned skincare, you can maintain a healthy, radiant complexion while exploring new places, wherever your next adventure takes you.

Drink Water and Moisturize

With packed itineraries, taking proper care of our body is not always a priority, and one of the biggest challenges while traveling is staying hydrated. Overlooking our body's needs can lead to dehydration, which can not only make our skin dry and dull, but also worsen fine lines.

If you're traveling by plane, it's super important to pay even more attention to properly hydrate your body. You ask why? The humidity levels in the cabin are much lower, hovering around 20%, and there is less moisture in the air the higher the altitude, which can leave you with dry skin, mouth, and eyeballs. The Aerospace Medical Association recommends drinking about 8 ounces or 250 ml of water for each hour you fly, so the longer the flight, the more water you should drink. Try avoiding drinking coffee and alcohol before and during the flight - just stick to the water.

Even though internal hydration reflects on your skin's healthy glow, it's also important to moisturize your skin. Put a thick layer of rich moisturizer before the flight and try to keep nurturing your skin mid-flight as well. The simple solutions are a high-quality sheet mask or a face mist with rich ingredients. We recommend FOREO SUPERCHARGED™ Barrier Restoring Essence Mist, designed to replenish the skin's natural barrier while offering a refreshing burst of moisture. Whether you're on a plane, riding a bus, or just enjoying the beach, with a face mist, you can (hygienically) achieve a dewy look and nourish your skin in just a few spritzes.

Protect Your Skin With Sunscreen

Did you know that sitting next to a window on a plane for even under an hour is the equivalent of around 20 minutes in a tanning bed? Not only does prolonged exposure to the sun and UV radiation damage your skin and lead to early signs of aging, but it’s also a frequent cause of skin cancer. A study showed that pilots and cabin crew have about twice the incidence of melanoma compared to the rest of the population – as the UV rays are much stronger at higher altitudes.

If you’re heading to a sunny destination, you probably equipped yourself with good sunscreen, but instead of packing the sunscreen in your suitcase, put it in your hand luggage and make a mental note to reapply it every two hours, even despite not sitting next to a window (just remember to bring small cabin packing).

You should, of course, use sunscreen every day and reapply it as often as you can, especially if the UV index is high. Don’t forget that UV rays are present even on cloudy days, and don’t forget to properly protect the sensitive areas we all often forget – ears, lips, and tops of your feet. The future, healthy and youthful looking you will be so grateful!

Look For Travel-Sized Skincare

A smart-packed and well-thought-out suitcase makes your travel life so much simpler, and if you don't have the luxury of multiple suitcases, traveling is really not the time for a seven-step skincare routine. To save space in your luggage, rather go for multi-purpose and travel-sized skincare products to simplify your beauty routine without sacrificing effectiveness, or put a little bit of your favorite product into a smaller bottle.

When packing for the trip, be mindful of the climate at your destination. If you're heading to a dry climate, pack hydrating serums and moisturizers to fight the loss of moisture and to keep your skin supple and healthy. Small, compact, and perfect for overloaded suitcases, UFO™ 3 go, deep facial hydration device increases skin moisture by 126% in a quick, 2-minute treatment. Plus, the device is so easy to handle that you can enjoy a spa experience wherever you are! For humid environments, on the other hand, opt for light products to prevent excess oil and breakouts.

Say Goodbye to Razors

A true game-changer for your skin, especially if you’re a travel lover, is replacing your usual razor with an IPL hair removal device. Besides the most obvious benefit – the long-term hair reduction – the list of IPL benefits is pretty amazing. Regular IPL treatments can lead to smoother skin over time with fewer ingrown hairs compared to razors and they tend to be gentler on the skin, reducing the likelihood of irritation and razor burns. Another amazing benefit of IPL is eliminating the need to shave daily, offering you a luxury of enjoying smooth skin for weeks.

Compact, lightweight, and smaller in size, PEACH™ 2 go travel-friendly IPL hair removal device fits any suitcase or carry-on-baggage, making it a perfect option for all who don’t want to skip their IPL treatment while traveling. It’s designed with more power, a larger treatment window, and a faster flash than other IPL devices on the market, providing you with a quick treatment and making you nice and ready for your adventures. Another amazing feature is the built-in cooling system that quickly cools treated skin but also preemptively cools the skin you’re going to treat next, making the treatments comfortable and painless, even in sensitive areas.

Get Your Beauty Sleep

Have you ever had trouble sleeping while traveling? If yes, you may have had travel insomnia – temporary sleeping trouble that any traveler can experience, triggered by a disrupted sleeping schedule, jet lag, anxiety, or even just missing your mattress.

Studies showed that sleep deprivation can lead to rough, dull, and dry skin, droopy eyelids, and dark circles. Remember this the next time you’re packing for an adventure, and bring something that will help you refresh your under eyes. IRIS™ Hydrating Hydrogel Eye Mask rejuvenating under-eye treatment helps you instantly revive tired, stressed, and puffy eyes, giving you a well-rested look while boosting your confidence.

Aim for eight hours of sleep each night to allow your skin to repair and regenerate. Also, think about investing in a comfortable travel pillow and consider packing an eye mask and earplugs to create a comfortable sleep environment, especially in noisy or bright surroundings.

Brilliant tips, all quite spot on! I often travel from Australia to the UK to visit family and those plane rides are so loooong, it's great to have a full calculation of how much water to drink per flight! Also, you guys have skincare now?? Must try 😊😊😊😊
