Green Light Therapy: Beauty, Health, and Well-Being Benefits

FAQ™ 200 LED Face Mask with Green light therapy treatment on a woman's face

Green means go. Green LED light therapy means go-go-go for your skin. Chance alone will guarantee that not all of the new treatments in the ever-evolving world of beauty and wellness are high-quality therapies that will deliver real results, so it may be hard to determine which ones are worth a try. This is always the problem of information warfare, basically what we call good marketing ends up in a confused customer who doesn’t know who to trust.

That's why MYSA goes deeper to weigh the proven reality of treatment results such as our featured green LED light therapy, a lesser-known but highly effective technique. Offering many benefits - from reducing hyperpigmentation and calming the skin to promoting overall wellness - green light therapy is proving to be a versatile and valuable addition to skincare routines for all ages. In this post, we will explore the science behind green light therapy and how this simple intervention can contribute to your beauty and well-being.

How does the green LED light therapy work?

Green light therapy utilizes specific wavelengths of light (519 nm) to target the body's cells and rejuvenate and heal the body at a cellular level. This can help stimulate collagen production, reduce inflammation, and boost energy levels, making it a great treatment option for those looking to boost their overall health and well-being and target a dull and blotchy complexion.

By penetrating the skin, green LED light therapy activates the body's natural healing processes, supporting tissue repair. In terms of skincare, green light therapy excels in addressing pigmentation issues by targeting melanin clusters and preventing them from surfacing, effectively reducing discoloration and age spots. Whether you're seeking relief from pain or aiming for a radiant complexion, green light therapy offers a versatile and effective solution.

One area where green light therapy excels is revitalizing the delicate skin around the eyes. It effectively treats dilated capillaries, reducing the appearance of sagging skin around the eyes, dark circles, hyperpigmentation, and sunspots. This effect can be extended to the body, even to treating sagging breasts.

Green LED light stimulates the production of melatonin, a hormone that regulates sleep-wake cycles. Recent research has shown that different lighting conditions can significantly affect our ability to fall and stay asleep. While blue light from screens and electronic devices is known to inhibit melatonin production and disturb sleep, green light creates a calming effect, enhancing melatonin synthesis and facilitating better sleep. This makes it a promising option for insomniacs, those struggling with sleep issues and seeking a more restful night's sleep.

Benefits of green light therapy

There are many benefits associated with green light therapy, including the coveted rejuvenating staple—the stimulation of collagen production—which helps maintain skin elasticity and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, leading to a more youthful complexion. Additionally, green light therapy is effective in reducing inflammation, which helps with conditions such as acne, rosacea, and other inflammatory skin issues.

Furthermore, green light therapy enhances energy levels by boosting cellular activity and improving blood circulation, which contributes to overall wellness and vitality. It also plays a crucial role in addressing hyperpigmentation by breaking down melanin clusters, reducing dark spots, and evening out skin tone.

Better sleep

As we mentioned, green light therapy can help improve your sleep quality by helping to regulate your body's natural sleep-wake cycle. By increasing melatonin (not the same as the before mentioned melanin responsible for pigmentation) levels, green light therapy promotes a more restful and consistent sleep.

Beyond its impact on melatonin production, green light therapy also helps to reduce stress and anxiety, further promoting better sleep. By calming the nervous system and reducing cortisol levels, it creates a more relaxed state which leads to a good night's sleep.

Reduced inflammation

Green light therapy can help reduce inflammation in the skin, making it an effective treatment option for chronic or acute pain.

By using specific green light wavelengths, this therapy targets inflammation at a cellular level, which can help soothe the discomfort that accompanies inflammatory skin conditions. As a noninvasive option, green light therapy can easily complement traditional pain management methods, potentially improving overall treatment results.

Improved energy levels

Green light therapy can also help improve your energy levels by stimulating the body's cells and tissues. This improves cellular function and encourages a natural response in the body that supports improved energy levels, making you show up in the world each day with a full tank of renewed energy, so often drained by mundane things and the stresses of being alive.

Youthful appearance

Green light therapy can help improve your skin's appearance by increasing collagen production and reducing inflammation. This helps with fine lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging, leading to a smoother complexion. Additionally, by reducing inflammation, this therapy can calm irritated skin and improve the overall skin tone and texture.

Incorporate green light therapy into your skincare

Hyperpigmentation is a common skin condition that occurs when the skin produces more melanin creating dark spots on the skin. Although it is usually harmless, it affects people of all skin types and it is something that can ruin your confidence.

Green light protects your skin from UV rays

One of the main causes of hyperpigmentation is sun exposure, which is why it is important to protect your skin from the sun's harmful UV rays. However, if you do notice any dark spots or discoloration on your skin, green light therapy may be able to help. Despite all precautions, that irksome discoloration is sometimes stronger than your protection. Luckily, today there are many options for treating hyperpigmentation and some of the most effective are aloe vera, licorice, and green tea, but also a treatment that includes a green light.

Green light treats acne

Green light therapy isn't just effective for treating hyperpigmentation it can also be effective in treating acne.

However, when it comes to combating acne-causing bacteria, blue light is even more effective than green light. Blue light therapy is known for its antibacterial properties, specifically targeting and killing the bacteria responsible for acne breakouts. In contrast, green light therapy works differently, primarily focusing on reducing inflammation and promoting healing in the skin. Both therapies have their unique benefits, and the choice between them often depends on the specific skin condition being treated and the desired outcome.

Green light therapy for rosacea

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition characterized by redness, flushing, and visible blood vessels on the face. While there is no cure for rosacea, green light therapy can help manage the symptoms and reduce inflammation in the skin.

Thank you for this! I have PIH from old acne scars that have since healed, but they left marks because I used to pick my skin (horrible habit, I know!). The ufo helped me fade the hyperpigmentation a bit, along with some topical treatments. I highly recommend LED light therapy to anyone suffering from hyperpigmentation!
