Hi Dani and thank you for your post! The LUNA 3 will require the APP to initially sync and activate the device, to manage the timing and intensity settings and to operate the massage mode. Once all set you can use the cleansing mode in manual mode without the APP but the massage mode will require the App each time of use. I hope this helps :)
