Choosing a new hair color or changing an existing one is not an easy decision. There are many things that must be considered in order to pick the appropriate shade. Many people struggle with whether their hair should be darker or lighter, or they are concerned that the coloring process could damage their hair. Nobody wants to have a bad hair day all around! That is why we have made it a little easier for you by providing some ideas on how to choose the perfect hair color for you while still maintaining healthy and glowing hair.

Choose the right hair color for your skin tone

If you have a darker skin tone, a warm color will suit you better to enhance the depth of your complexion. Think about playing around with colors such as brown, caramel, or mahogany brunette. Lighter skin tones are frequently associated with light blonde ashy colors, and pastels will work best for you if you want to add some additional fun colors to your hair. Looking at the color of your veins is an easy way to determine your skin tone immediately. If your veins are more blue or green in color, you have a cold tone, and if they are more purple in color, you have a warm tone.

Choosing between all the different colors may not always be easy at first, so if you are unsure, go for something lighter. If you wish to go deeper, it is always easier to correct lighter colors.

Start with a non-permanent coloring first

If you frequently change your hair color, the non-permanent coloring options are a much healthier and easier alternative than going straight to the salon, breaking your budget, and possibly getting a hair color that you are not satisfied with. You will save time and money by experimenting with several colors to see which ones work best for you. Non-permanent colors wash away quicker and cause less damage to your hair. Consider your hair to be a treasure you want to take care of and enjoy for a long time, so don't torture it and give it the attention it needs.

Begin with small adjustments

If making rash decisions was a job, we'd all be millionaires, if not billionaires, by now. We've all seen extreme changes in one's hair by making bad decisions, and occasionally the consequences are followed. When you begin your hair change adventure, make sure that every idea you had gradually becomes completed as you begin to make visible changes to your hair. Going blonde after having naturally black hair is the worst thing you could do, and it is definitely not recommended to do it on your own at home. Allow professionals to help you in determining the healthiest procedure for you.

Strand test

If you're afraid of putting your hair to the test all at once because you're you think you won't get the appropriate color, a strand test is exactly what you need. What exactly is a strand test? The strand test will allow you to see how the hair color will look after the first try, allowing you to decide whether to continue doing it or not. It will also make the process easier for you because you will be able to see how long it will take to get the correct color match.

Some colors do not always work out on the first try, so strand testing is something you should definitely do. And it’s very simple. All you need to do is take one section of your hair, possibly the one that is not very noticeable. Do a few tries and you will see whether the color is the one you want on your entire head.

Hair treatment

Because of all the chemicals and products that hair colors contain, treated hair needs extra attention. If colored hair is not properly cared for, it can easily become damaged, dry, weak, and frizzy, and even worse it is highly visible. You absolutely do not want to be seen with a dry mop on your head. Different hair masks and oils, such as argan oil, coconut oil, and keratin, can perform an excellent job of keeping your hair strong, healthy, shiny, and hydrated.

When it comes to colored hair, it's time to go all out and flaunt your vibrant hair. But keep in mind that with great color comes great responsibility! Hair coloring journey doesn’t have to be tiring and complicated as long as you stick to some general tips and enjoy yourself while doing it. Good luck!

I believe it's fantastic that my closest friend is considering getting her hair dyed at a salon in a striking, colorful tone to symbolize her new beginning after recently going through a difficult breakup and wanting a fresh start. A new hair color seems to be the ideal method for her to accept change and move on from the past. I'll tell her about your advice that getting blonde after having naturally black hair is the worst thing you could do and that doing it yourself at home is certainly not advised. As you suggested, ask experts to advise you on the technique that will be the healthiest for you.
