Winter Wonderland: 6 Ways to Prep Your Skin For Winter

A woman catching snowflakes

Baby... it’s (almost) cold outside.   As the seasons change, so does your skin. Although it may feel as fall has just arrived, winter is just around the corner and it’s never to early to start skin prepping for the driest season of the year. Don’t let your skin become a casualty of winter forces, instead read these 5 ways to prep your skin for winter to ensure your skin will glow all season long!

Exfoliate

Although you may not be sweating in the winter, it is still crucial to cleanse and exfoliate your skin. Exfoliation allows you to rid your pores of dead skin cells, oil, dirt and debris in order to keep your skin’s healthy glow. If you’re looking for a winning formula to keep your skin on point this winter, try the LUNA range by FOREO. The combination of silicone bristles and T-Sonic pulsations will leave your skin more radiant than ever before.

Use Deep Moisturizing Masks

The notoriously dry air in the winter makes your skin dry out faster than you can say ‘let it snow’. It’s important to take the time to care for your skin so it doesn’t end up flaky and irritated. Treat yourself to a deep moisturizing mask at least once a week to restore and replenish your skin to its most hydrated state.

Use Hydrating Lotion or Face Oil Daily

Whether your skin is oily or dry, it’s essential to hydrate your skin on a daily basis as it adds a protective barrier that helps protect against harsh winter weather conditions. Find a hydrating lotion or face oil that you can use daily (especially if you spend a lot of time outdoors), and apply it once in the morning and once in the evening.

Don’t Forget to Wear SPF

Protecting your skin against harmful rays is a year round commitment, despite what you may be feeling during the cold winter months. Be sure to incorporate some much-needed SPF into your morning skincare routine to help prevent fine lines and saggy skin. No one wants that!

Invest in a Humidifier

Continuous artificial heating seeping into your pores during the winter months will certainly take a toll on the moisture level of your skin. By investing in a humidifier, you can hydrate skin with minimal effort while you sleep as they work to shoot a never-ending stream of moisture into the air. Bonus - you can even put essential oils in humidifiers to give them a scent that will help you relax at night.

Remember to Hydrate

Dehydration during the winter months may feel much less noticeable than summer months, but it is equally as important to stay hydrated. Try to drink at least 2-3 liters of water per day and switch your morning coffee for herbal tea. If you're looking for some flavorful hydrating teas, try peppermint, ginger or fennel flavored.   Keep your skin in mint condition by beating winter skin problems before they even start!
